elem_herriman_galleryThe Board of Education has approved construction bids for two new elementary schools that will be built in Herriman and South Jordan. The District will be building these schools using money it has saved by cutting expenses and being more efficient over the past several years. Each school will cost taxpayers approximately $14.5 million, a savings of more than 20 percent over previous building construction costs.

Our facilities team worked with architects to modify an existing floor plan design, owned by Jordan School District, to reduce common area space while only eliminating one kindergarten classroom. The new school will have 35 classrooms and be approximately 78,500 square feet in size. Compare that to our newest elementary school, Blackridge Elementary, which is 36 classrooms and more than 93,000 square feet.

Once the cost of inflation is factored in, the two new schools will save taxpayers 30 percent over previous costs.
