The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently announced a list of school districts receiving alternative fuel school bus grants. Jordan School District was at the top of the list, receiving the largest rebate of any school district in the United States, a whopping $250,000! This money will be used to replace 10 dirty diesel school buses with 10 clean burning, compressed natural gas (CNG) school buses. This furthers our commitment to healthier air for children and their families in the Salt Lake Valley. No other school district in the state has a program as large as Jordan’s, contributing to cleaner air. We currently have 69 CNG school buses, along with our own natural gas fueling station.
Jordan is excited to host lawmakers next Friday as they tour our transportation facility and see first-hand the success of our CNG school bus program.
