Some people have been asking us about the history of bonding in the Jordan School District, wondering how long it’s been since we had voter approved funding to build new schools. The last successful bond in JSD was passed 13 years ago, in 2003. Since that time the population in this part of Salt Lake County has grown rapidly. In fact, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, we have some of the fastest growing populations in the entire nation. Davis Demographics projections show Jordan School District enrollment will grow by 9,251 students over the next five years.
This is why we are bonding and turning to voters for some help in building new schools to accommodate the rising number of students coming into the District. Our proposed bond is for $245 million to build six new schools. It would cost the average homeowner $16.80 a year. After a few years, taxes for bond payments will go down because we are almost finished paying off the 2003 bond debt
