IMG_0292On January 26, the Board of Education approved funds to construct two new elementary schools, one in South Jordan and one in Herriman. Work is well underway and ahead of schedule thanks to the spring-like weather. In just a few weeks, footings and foundation walls have been poured for the South Jordan elementary located at approximately 10200 S. 5150 West. The Herriman elementary site, located at approximately 12420 S. 5600 West, has been compacted and is slated to get its footings poured this coming week.

These schools are being built with money the District saved over the past few years by cutting expenses and being more efficient. The schools will cost more than 17 percent less than previous elementary schools, without compromising instructional space for students. Our facilities team worked with architects to modify an existing floor plan design, owned by Jordan School District, to reduce common area space while only eliminating one kindergarten classroom. The new single-story schools will have 35 classrooms and be approximately 78,500 square feet in size. See more photos of the progress on our Facebook page.
