Jordan School District’s Nutrition Services Department is always looking for new ways to provide quality breakfast and lunches at low prices. We’ve done this in the past by buying in bulk and warehousing. Now we have gone a step further by providing our own delivery services directly to schools instead of from food distributors. We are delivering 60 percent more food products to school kitchens than we did three years ago. The District now delivers dry goods, canned soups, applesauce and peaches, even frozen and fresh items including apples, pears and more.
This has saved the District more than $500,000 a year. Some of that half million dollar savings has been put back into buying higher quality food for students and keeping prices low. Meal prices have remained the same in Jordan School District for six years. Next time you get the chance, stop by and have lunch with your student. We’re sure you both will enjoy it.
