For many years now, Jordan School District has been using valuable capital outlay dollars to fund construction of “pay-as-you-go” schools to accommodate the rapid growth and influx of new students. Two new elementary schools are currently being built like this.
However, we have reached a point where this is no longer possible in order to keep up with current growth.
If we have bond money to build new schools, the District can then use our capital outlay money as it was intended, to fund needed capacity upgrades and renovations at existing schools.
There are 21 schools on the waiting list for these projects. Copper Hills High, Riverton High, West Jordan High, Bingham High and many others could all receive needed capacity upgrades and renovations, if capital money is freed up because we have bond money to build our new schools.
Please watch this video to see how communities throughout the District could benefit from the proposed bond.
