She created something called “The Cereal Project” in an effort to make sure children at her school would have breakfast over the winter break each year. This year, Oquirrh Elementary School Principal Shauna Worthington, with the help of community volunteers, collected, wrapped and distributed more than 15,000 boxes of cereal for students at 17 schools in Jordan School District.
That is just one reason why Ms.Worthington was recently honored by the Utah Association of Elementary School Principals as “Community Leader of the Year.” The award recognizes principals who are involved in outside activities and in bringing community activities into school. Principal Worthington has a heart of gold and her giving spirit makes a difference in the lives of her students every single day.
Congratulations, Ms. Worthington! Keep up the wonderful work supporting students and breaking breakfast cereal records every holiday season!
